SPORTS

2019-2020

  • Devika Santhosh Kumar and Elizabeth Abraham secured 2nd position in MG University intercollegiate badminton championship, representing UC college. Devika was also selected into the MG University team and participated in South Zone inter University Badminton tournament held at Manipal representing MG University and reached the quarterfinals.
  • Sona C Shekar of 1st DC and Merin Paul of 2nd PG and Elizabeth Abraham of Ist PG won prices in the inter collegiate university state, fencing championship
  • Sreya M George of 1st UG and Merin paulwere members of the collegiate net ball team which  got 1st runnerup  Both of them were selectedtoNationallevelinNetballcompetition.
  • Elizabeth Abraham of 1stPG, was part of the team that won 1stprize in inter college cricket, 2nd prize for university south zone cricket tournament and she qualified for All India level cricket tournament and softball tournament.

2018-2019

  1. Binu Susan Paul (UG Psychology)University Champion for three consecutive years in Judo (2013-15). She also became the   Intercollegiate champion in fencing (2013-14),won second prize in fencing (2014-15), won Second prize for wrestling in 2014-15 and she also secured a second prize for fencing in the year 2014-15.
  2. Sherin Jose (PG/UG, Psychology) won second prize for fencing in 2015, she won first prize for Soft Ball (2014). She also secured First Prize for Judo (2013)  and Third Prize for Judo in the year 2014.
  3. Jiya Joseph (UG Psychology) became the Mahatma Gandhi University Record holder for three consecutive years (2013- 2015), with Five Gold & 3 Silver medals in swimming
  4. Jithin Jaise (UG Psychology) represented the College in Net Ball, and became the Mahatma Gandhi University Champions (2013) 

ARTS

  • Nanda and Harikrishan of U G Psychology were members of the Drama that won second prize in the drama fest conducted by M G university(2020). Tom Johnson, Surya Susheel, Abel Thomas Shaji and Sara maria Swaroop were members of the western group song which won first prize in M G University youth festival (2020)

SERVICE LEARNING ACTIVITIES

U G students conducted awareness classes on mental health, learning and memory techniques for schools students (2020).Both U G & P G students conducted psychological assessment for intellectual and cognitive skills for underperforming students in the nearby government schools and special schools (2020).

INTERNATIONAL LINKAGES

  1. The department has been associated with Fr.Dr.Gerald Middents, Professor in Psychology at Texas, USA. He was a faculty in our department a few years back and has instituted an endowment in his name for the conduction of lectures in Psychology in the department.
  2. The Department has received grants from United Board of Christian Higher Education in Asia (UBCHEA). It also has provided financial support for  initiation of service learning activities. Presently support is through minor projects of the faculty and scholarship to students.
  3. International Christian University(ICU), Tokyo,Japan  and Union Christian College have agreed upon a student and teacher exchange program. Amal T. Anup, Undergraduate student of Psychology was the first student from UCC to  avail this opportunity.
  4. Haritha P.R. received the Scranton Scholarship for Women Leaders and was also selected for Scranton Scholar’s Leadership program held at Korea in 2015.
