The Department of Psychology is committed to fostering holistic development and professional competence among students by offering specialized Value-Added Courses. These courses are designed to supplement the academic curriculum, equip students with essential practical skills, and prepare them to meet the dynamic demands of the field of psychology.
Currently, the department offers two enriching Value-added courses: ‘Psychological Skill Development’ and ‘Enhancing Research Skills.’ The course on Psychological Skill Development focuses on building core competencies such as effective communication, emotional intelligence, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills. It empowers students to apply psychological principles in real-world contexts, thereby enhancing both their personal growth and professional readiness. The course ‘Enhancing Research Skills’ is designed to strengthen students’ abilities to undertake independent research, interpret data, and engage with scientific literature critically. It introduces students to various research methodologies, ethical practices, and data analysis techniques, preparing them for academic research, professional projects, and further studies.
In line with its commitment to continuous academic enrichment and social relevance, the department also plans to introduce additional Value-Added Courses focusing on areas such as Dementia Care and Autism Management. These forthcoming courses will address pressing societal needs and provide students with specialized knowledge and skills to work effectively within clinical and community-based settings. Through these Value-Added Courses, the Department of Psychology seeks to bridge the gap between theoretical understanding and practical application, thereby enhancing students’ employability, research aptitude, and readiness for advanced academic and professional pursuits.
